Typically, when the vein is inflamed and swollen around the lower rectum and anus it causes a certain condition known as hemorrhoids. They usually develop above and inside the anus itself.

There are also some instances that hemorrhoids can also develop around the anus’ skin, which is known to be an external condition of hemorrhoid. When the external or the internal plexuses venous that are located in the canal of the anal are congested, hemorrhoids also develop instantly.

According to some medical practitioners, it may be because of the irritation that the hemorrhoid is experiencing whenever a person is having a bowel movement.

The hemorrhoid is being strained by the movement of the stool, which causes it to develop. There are also some other factors as to why these hemorrhoids often enlarge, such as diarrhea, constipation, aging and as well as intercourse in the anal. But one of the clear causes of enlargement of the hemorrhoid is pregnancy, but it is still unknown as to why it happens.

There are also some people who experience enlarged hemorrhoids, for unknown reasons as well. But according to some studies, people who have tumors in their pelvis have hemorrhoids that are enlarged. The reason behind this is because the veins are being pressed through the anal canal itself.

Here are some of the most common reasons as to why hemorrhoids occur:

  • Strain due to bowel movement
  • Aging
  • Pregnancy
  • Chronic Constipation
  • Chronic Diarrhea
  • Intercourse through the anal
  • Obesity
  • Long periods of sitting
  • Genetics – which is common for some people who inherit this kind of condition to their family members

These are some of the other reasons as to why these hemorrhoids are developing.

People who sometimes force their stool to pass can also cause hemorrhoids to develop around their anus. The reason behind this is because, the anal canal is being dragged which causes the hemorrhoids to be pushed downwards. This can also cause the hemorrhoids to enlarge, because it is being irritated by the bowel movement itself.

Some medical practitioners also believed that aging is one of the main causes of hemorrhoids, because the tissue which is responsible for anchoring these hemorrhoids to the muscles of anal canal slowly deteriorates as people age. That is why the tissue of the hemorrhoid loses its grip and slowly slides to the anal canal itself.
